boys will be boys

it has been so wet here lately and our back yard has turned into a mud pit. i really believe that mud is like a magnet for little boys. how can i possibly expect them to not play in it? they were having a blast (at the expense of the grass) it is a damn good thing they wash...

I am not even pretending that he is ready for this next stage. I could be ready if I really thought he was ready but he can't be ready yet. I read the six signs to know when they are ready, he does two of them. What I do know for sure is that he HATES his diaper. He hates it when it is dry and absolutely hates it when it is wet. A couple of months ago he figured out how to remove the diaper... not ever, ever a good idea. I am at peace with the fact that it might take 2 years to potty train this child. In the meantime he might as well be more comfortable. But what I don't understand is why a 12 pack of girl undies is the same price as a 6 pack of boys. Is it the fly? How many 2-year-olds actually use the fly? Just a side note that this boy does own pants but life is too short to wear pants.

Pinewood Derby

So fun... Liam and Matt had a good time making the car this year. We have sorta been opposed to the whole dad makes the car thing in the past but this ward seems to really have it under control. They had a great time and it was fun to see them race. We had a big talk about "winning isn't what it is about" and when we were finished liam said, "do you think they will have milk to go with the cookies?" that's my boy...
*just a note about the pictures. I do exist and here is proof. Myles has a new "take my picture" face that he makes whenever there is a camera near and then he has to look at his picture on the lcd screen. *

Happy Birthday MOM! We love you!

Walk it off...

Man, what a month... Last night Matt called as they were leaving wrestling practice. Have I mentioned that James was invited to wrestle with the high school team and that Matt was helping coach. Don't think I did. He was really excited to be wrestling. Anyways, Matt said that James had gotten hurt and we needed to take him to the ER. What mother doesn't love hearing that? So a series of "things went wrong" and James "hurt" his ankle. The coach was pretty sure it was a sprain so he told him to "walk it off". So he did. For about 30 minutes. Let me tell you this kid has an amazing, amazing threshold for pain. I am amazed at his ability to say, with a straight face, "on a pain scale of 1-10 it is about an 11." The smiley man on the pain chart is even crying. It can't be that bad right? Turns out it was that bad (not a sprain that could be walked off). He broke the fibula and the tibia bones. We will be meeting with the ortho doc on Monday to set up surgery next week. He is home, casted, completely non-weightbearing, with prescription for Lortab with pins and a metal plate in his future. Poor kid...

change...

I really can’t believe that today is finally here. I have so many emotions I don’t even know where to start. I can’t believe we are leaving Colorado. This has been home for 14 years. We have made so many wonderful memories here. This was not a decision that was easy for us but really we know this is something that we are supposed to do. Bittersweet… I am excited for the new adventure. I know that Matt will love his new job. I can’t wait to see parts of the country I’ve never seen before. But I am sad for my kids. It has been so hard for them to say goodbye to their friends. It has been so hard helping them say goodbye to their friends. It is scary leaving the comforts of “home”. We have family here that we are going to miss. We are going to miss everyone terribly. We are going to be okay. Right? This is a conversation I had with Liam a couple of weeks ago.

L: How many days until we move?
M: 13. Are you excited?
L: It’s weird. I thought it would be scary but I am so excited. I feel like it is right in my head and it is right in my heart. (HUGE SMILE)

Thanks for that wisdom Liam. I know it is right in my heart too. Last August (not a month to come and visit Arkansas by the way) Matt and I went there so he could interview for this job. We had prayed and prayed for guidance. Was this what we were supposed to be doing? It is such a huge move for our family. We went back and forth. The 90% humidity was not helping with the decision. A friend of ours invited us out to their house for dinner. We drove up to Cabot. * I have heard people talk about when they get “that feeling” buying a home. They walk in and they just know that this is where they are supposed to be.* This is how I felt in Cabot. Driving down Main Street I had the strongest impression that this is where we were supposed to be. So, here we are. We are going to go find out why…

Don't forget us

Too many times we stand aside
And let the waters slip away
'Til what we put off 'til tommorow
Has now become today
So don't you sit upon the shoreline
And say your satisfied
Choose to chance the rapids
And dare to dance the tide...
yesAnd there's bound to be rough waters
And I know I'll take some falls
But with the Good Lord as my Captain
I can make it through them all..yes

We really want to keep in touch with all of our friends. Email me at MKrenz5@msn.com and I will hook you up with our new address. I be without internet for a few weeks but I will respond. See you later...

How do you keep a baby entertained for hours?

He was stuck in a pair of boxers and was not amused that i was taking pictures. Funny boy.

What a special day!

On the 14th Jessie was officially adopted by Matt. It was such a special day for her. This has been something that she has wanted for quite some time. We are very grateful for the sacrifice that was made to allow this to happen. We were all so happy for her. She had her family there, Aunt Susan and Laura, Uncle Richard and her friends Tyque, Charlo, Sabrina, little Anna and Melanie. This will be a day that Matt and Jessie will be able to celebrate for years to come. I love you Jess…

Yeah James!

Today was the State Wrestling meet. James took third place. Super Awesome job James! He has really done well this season. Today was the perfect way to wrap it up (minus a nasty case of cauliflower ear {you can click on the picture above and note the huge right ear} and a lost contact). He got a shirt today and just loves the definition. I thought it was appropriate. Wrestler (rest'ler)- n. One who trains like a madman to have the power to force his opponents body into the shape of a pretzel and then gently pin him into a soft mat, where his mommy can tuck him in. We are really proud of his determination and commitment.
